Pine Arizona Almanac 2008

The most memorable weather events of 2008 were the big storms in January and December. January and December produced almost half of the total precipitation for 2008. January had two huge moisture producers which accounted for the higher than normal average of precipitation for the month. The 2008 winter season produced more rain than snow. Many of the hiking trails in the rim country were heavily eroded from the storms in January and required quite a bit of maintenance in the spring.

Wind speed accuracy numbers for 2008 were improved by putting the anemometer up on top of the two story garage roof. There are many tall ponderosa pine trees on the property so some of the wind is buffered by the trees.

The temperature and humidity readings are more accurate for 2008 due to the installation of a solar radiation shield and better placement of the sensors.

The low temperature for the year was 16.2 on February 7 and the high was 98.4 on June 20th.
