The year started off unusually warm and dry but February will be remembered for the big snow storm of 2009. Parts of the rim country received 2 feet of snow in 3 days.
Precipitation for March was below average.
The monsoon months of July and August were below normal in rainfall and above normal in daytime high temperatures.
After a normal September, a low pressure trough dipped down over Arizona in the last week of October. Record low temperatures were recorded for the week and parts of Pine got 1/8th to 3/8th of an inch of snow.
The rim country recorded some of the highest wind gusts ever during a snow storm on December 7th.
